Stable Target ISSF

ISSF Sports

The sports of shooting according to ISSF (International Sport Shooting Federation) are taking place in pre-set spaces(closed/covered or open air) nd they are all defined by International Rules. Most of them are a part of the programme of the Olympic Games. In all of them the shooter shoots at a target from a predestined position and in several of them with a certain posture.

Pistol / Gun

Airgun

A sport that takes place at 10 metres and it is about 60 shootings within 1 hour and 45 minutes. Women and youngsters shoot 40 shootings in an hour and 15 minutes. The guns are airguns of 4,5 millimetre calibre with the minimum trigger weight of 500 gr. The dimensions of the guns must be certain (for the design of the stock and the body of the gun).

Gun
1. Free
The sport takes place at 50 metres and it consists of 60 shootings that must be done in maximum 2 hours using a gun of 22 in (5,56mm) calibre. It's name is due to the fact thatthere are no restrictions/limmitations in terms of the size of the gun, the weight of the trigger or the stock, in contrast to the rest of the sports/games.

2. Speed gun
A sport that takes place at 25 metres and consists of 60 shootings that happen at two stages of 30 shootings each. Every stage is separated into six rows of 5 shooting each. The first two rows of every stage are being shot at in 8 seconds, the next two in 6 seconds and the two final ones in 4 seconds. The shooter in all the rows shoots their five shootings in 5 different targets placed horizontally the one next to the other and not in the same target, as it happens in all the other sports. The guns used are shooting guns of 22 short with stocks that "close" around the hand in order to offer greater stability. The targets used are the "big" ISSF.

3. Standard
This sport is practised at 25 metres and consists of 60 shootings that are separated in three stages. Every stage has four rows with five shootings each. At the first stage the shooter has 15 sec for every row. At the second stage the available time is 20sec and at the last stage it's just 10sec. For this sport, the "small" ISSF targets are used for all stages. The guns used are those of 22LR and only with a trigger weight not less than 1000gr and controlled dimensions of gun and stock.

4. Central firing
The only sport for the guns of great calibre that takes place in Greece. It consists of 60 shootings/shots separated in two totally different stages of 30 shootings each. The first stage has 6 rows of 5 shootings and for every row the shooter has 6 min to shoot at the "small" ISSF target with their five shootings. The second stage is also separated into 6 rows of 5 shootings but this is where its similarities with the first stage stop. At this stage the target changes and becomes now "the big" or "speed" (target). Only 30 sec are given to shoot the target with just one bullet and then it "closes" for 7 sec. With successive openings and closings of 3 and 7 sec respectively, the shooter shoots at the target with 5 shootings per row. Furthermore, as long as the target is "closed", the shooter must keep his/her hand in the angle up to 45 degrees and not must aim at the target. At this sport, guns with bullet size from 32 (7,65 millimetres) up to 38 (9 millimetres), with open stocks (that do not "close" around the hand), the weight of the trigger should not be smaller than 1360gr and not surpass the limits of the dimensions set by ISSF. This is a sport only for men and adolescents.

5. Women's sport
The only sport for women and young girls in the category of firing guns. The rules, the targets and timelimits are the same as the sport of central firing but this sport is practised with guns of small calibre of 22LR (5,56millimetres).
